A Public Record of Deaths in ICE Custody, 2024–2026


All deaths that take place in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) must be recorded. These reports exist, but they are scattered everywhere, in archives, news releases, and official websites. This article tries to bring those names together in one place to acknowledge and honor the human beings behind the statistics. And to have a record that it’s been witnessed.

Every record is either from public reporting that has been confirmed or official ICE documents. The sources are mentioned at the bottom. I will continue to update this list.

2024 — Deaths in ICE Custody (Official Reports)

Deaths During Immigration Enforcement Operations (Not in Custody)

The following individuals were not detained by ICE at the time of their deaths. Their deaths occurred during federal immigration enforcement operations involving ICE agents.

  • Renée Good, 35 years old, killed in Minneapolis during a federal immigration enforcement raid (January 2026)
  • Alex Pretti, 36 years old, killed during the same enforcement operation (January 2026)

This list is limited by the fact that federal immigration agencies do not publish full records(or any records) of all use of force incidents, and many internal policy documents remain redacted or unavailable to the public.

These cases are included here as publicly documented fatalities connected to immigration enforcement actions.
