Raita | The Wizard’s Table

Raita

Origin: Raita traces its origins to ancient India, where yogurt (dahi) was a central element of Vedic cuisine and Ayurvedic practice. Cooling, balancing, and probiotic, it was often paired with spiced or rich foods to harmonize the body’s internal heat — a reflection of the Ayurvedic principle of balance.

Raita is the quiet companion to bold dishes—cool, creamy, and meant to restore balance.

This version, with fresh cucumber and mint, is a staple across Indian tables, offered as a breath of calm alongside heat and intensity. It’s simple. Humble.

And just what your body remembers to crave when the spices dance too high.

How The Alchemy Happens

In a bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth.

Stir in cucumber, mint, and salt. Add cumin and pepper if using.

Adjust consistency with a splash of water or milk—should be creamy, not runny.
